The Mystery of History arrived….I love it.
19 June 2008I never dreamed I would be SO excited over a history book seeing as how Jeff says I don’t even know when the War of 1812 was! HA Sad that a “A” student remembers NOTHING of history. That is why I am trying a different approach with the kids instead of memorizing useless facts! HA I bought my Mystery of History Volume 2 off of www.vegsource.com used. I am so excited I have stayed up at night reading it and preparing. We did Volume 1 year before last. It was creation to the resurrection. This one starts at the early church and covers the middle ages. We will study Islam, the christian martyrs, etc…….We have lots of fun activities like making phylacteries and Mt. Vesuvius…ha. Levi has been reading it at nighttime when he can’t sleep. SO, last nights dinner conversation, as we were running late for church, was about Islam, Hindu’s…etc. Shew..that was a deep conversation over lasagna! HA
I hope to post pictures as we do our school activities and what we are learning. I hate we have to stop and take time to do the basics (language, math, etc) and can’t just focus on history and art and the fun stuff! HA

Stacy, your blog looks great and it is always interesting to see inside the minds and homes of my friends. Now, don’t you think you should cover nutrition this year as well…..Lucky Charms and chocolate milk!! My kids would be bouncing off the walls even more than normal!
