Our latest Mystery of History lessons

17 October 2008

We LOVE our MOH. How many times do I say that? We are waiting for the audio CD to be released for it.  We plan on studying MOH for 2 more years to get through all the world history from creation to the present.

The latests lessons have been…..

St. Valentine and Valentines Day-Did you know that on February 14th St. Valentine, a christian, was martyrd for his faith?  February 15th was the Roman festival of love, Lupercalia, where they also worhsipped their god Pan-the god of nature.  Christians, obviously, wanted their own “holiday” and had Valentines Day instead of the Roman festival.  Hence, where most of our “holidays’ come from…pagan traditions.  She states that in this book. WE all know that.  We made cards this day.

The Edict of Milan-Finally, Constantine came to rule the Roman Empire and issued/signed the Edict of Milan stating Christians and all others could worship as they like.   We made our own edict with paper towel holders and muslin with markers.
