Homeschool Year 2009-2010
4 June 2009As all homeschool moms do, I am planning my upcoming school year for the kids. We are excitedly buying books and getting things ready.
These are my random (and some actually planned) ideas for this year.
Levi and Cassia will use Abeka for:
Language
Spelling (Abeka’s spelling is HARD!! But, they can do it.)
Math
They are getting tired of the Abeka readers so now we are getting our own “real” books.
We will be using our BAlancing the Sword for bible along with Sunday school lessons somedays for Bethel and somedays we will do Proverbs drawings and maybe some Keepers of the Faith character study booklets. After all, this is the most important subject!
Geography will be “Into All The World” by Christian LIght Publications. This is awesome. After searching and searching this was exciting to find. I didn’t like any geography I came across until I saw this. They have the work booklets and tests to go along with it and I am going to try to get this to be mostly a independent study. We will see……
We also, one day a week, will be using Writing Strands 3 to work on our writing.
One day a week we will be doing Apologia Botany with notebooking and experiments. WE already have this book so we are going to make use of it.
We will be using “A Childs Story of America” hopefully with some books to add to this.
We are also going to try to do crafts one day a week for all kids and several times a week to inforce Bethels letters and sounds.
Bethel will be using the Abeka K-4 program and all the charts and flashcards I already have. She wants to learn to read but I don’t want her an official kindergartener at the age of 4 (all you homeschooling moms know what I mean). So, she will most likely reinforce her reading skills next year in Kindergarten.
I am getting craft ideas for each letter of the alphabet from different blogs. I also am getting some neat ideas for crafts for all for different seasons and holidays.
I’m sure there is much more but this is just random thoughts.
Stacy
