Sweet Friends

Written on 29 June 2009 by

Saturday night our sweet homeschool friends threw us a going away party.  We had yummy food, good conversation and the kids played ball.  It was a good night of fun for us and glad to see our sweet, southern friends!

Sunday morning after service we had a church dinner/going away party for our family.  It was some yummy food again and Mrs. Glenda made her killer mexican cornbread. I ate 2 peices and skipped dessert!!!

I am going to miss my church friends and homeschool friends.

Another chapter in our life closes, and another opens………..

Happy Fathers Day Daddy!

Written on 19 June 2009 by

Psalm 128

Blessed is everyone that feareth the LORD; that walketh in his ways.  For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy shalt thou be; and it shall be well with thee.  Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house:  thy children like olive plants around thy table.  Behold, that thus shall the man be blessed that feareth the LORD.  The LORD shall bless thee out of Zion: and thou shalt see the good of Jerusalem all the days of thy life.  Yea, thou shalt see thy children’s children, and peace upon Israel.

Happy Father’s Day daddy. I love you!

I Declare It Happy Husbands Day

Written on 13 June 2009 by

WARNING: MUSHY MATERIAL AHEAD

Why is there a Father’s Day and not a Husbands Day. Well, today I declare it that! HA

Sorry to all you single ladies out there, but I have the best husband by far and he is not available.  Don’t try to steal him!!!

I love you Jeff!!

He works so hard for us and has taken care of the kids, meals, diapers, etc…all day while I take my medicine for sinus infection, tonsilitis and double pink eye!!! We won’t mention how much he is going to have to work this weekend during late night hours to make up for helping me feel better today.  Nor will I mention him dropping me off at the doctors office and then realizing he has no wipes and the babies are in cloth diapers! HA  Also, when he took them to eat at Chik-fil-a, all 5 kids, there was 2 busloads of teenagers there. Then he did my grocery shopping and got my meds for me.

“Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge; thy people shall be my people and thy God my God” Ruth 1:16

I think this verse was read at our wedding.

I’ll follow you to the ends of the earth sweetheart!

Modest Swimwear Option

Written on 11 June 2009 by

I know in our family and in talking with my friends and their families, whether they be pants wearing or skirt wearing, shorts on no short, long shorts or no shorts…most all have trouble finding modest swimwear options for their girls.

We have tried different things but have finally found the best option for us. We buy the girls swimsuits and cover them up with boys swim shirts that are easily found at Old Navy (got mine for $6 this year) and do not look too boyish.  Just recently this year we have found these:

skirt: Girl's Swim Skirt

These are swim skirts for girls and women on Coolibar’s website www.coolibar.com.  They hit just a inch or 2 above the knee and are waterproof.  I have tried making skirts and they never work. THey don’t repel water as good. These are not too cheap but well worth it for us to not always be looking for something modest.  We can continue to pass these down to the littler girls and not have to buy one every year.

Clothing Diapering? Never!

I never dreamed that I would be cloth diapering until
a. times got hard
b. a friend (thanks Jeannie!) gave me a big stash worth $100’s of dollars!!
I have tried a few different brands but the ones that work best so far are Fuzzi Bunz!  They are rather expensive if bought new but I have gotten mine free or very cheap off of www.diaperswappers.com.    I am addicted to checking it everday to see what everyone is selling. There are like 70,000 moms on there. That is amazing to me!  People start making faces and scrunching up their noses when I tell them! HA  It is not that bad. I have a bucket in my laundry room that I dump them into and wash every night. I have even been taking them out in them and to church in them. I need a cool wet bag but for now I am just using a bag I already have to keep them until I get home.  There are so many companies and WAHM out there that make diapers. There are even very fancy embroidered ones that are so cute but very expensive.  I wish I would have known this kind of cloth diapering 10 years ago when my first son was born.  I definitely want to keep up with this new addiction!
