Modest Swimwear Option
Written on 11 June 2009 by stacyI know in our family and in talking with my friends and their families, whether they be pants wearing or skirt wearing, shorts on no short, long shorts or no shorts…most all have trouble finding modest swimwear options for their girls.
We have tried different things but have finally found the best option for us. We buy the girls swimsuits and cover them up with boys swim shirts that are easily found at Old Navy (got mine for $6 this year) and do not look too boyish. Just recently this year we have found these:
These are swim skirts for girls and women on Coolibar’s website www.coolibar.com. They hit just a inch or 2 above the knee and are waterproof. I have tried making skirts and they never work. THey don’t repel water as good. These are not too cheap but well worth it for us to not always be looking for something modest. We can continue to pass these down to the littler girls and not have to buy one every year.

The Homeschooler’s 23rd Psalm
Saturday / June 06, 2009
“I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep” (John 10:11).
The Lord is my shepherd,
I shall not want.
He maketh me to live on less sleep:
He leadeth me through the noise of many voices.
He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me to teach
The right lessons each day, for His name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of undone
Laundry and kitchen messes, I will fear no evil:
For thou art with me, my teacher’s guides and
Answer keys, they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence
Of threatening school officials and critical family members:
Thou anointest my head with heavenly wisdom, my cup runneth over.
Surely educated and godly children shall follow after me
All the days of my life: and I will dwell again one day
In a clean house with the Lord forevermore.
Praise God, we do have a good Shepherd who leads us through every homeschooling problem and provides for our every need. Best of all, our Shepherd knows us and promises never to desert us when the wolf comes seeking to destroy (John 10:11-13). As we listen to the Shepherd’s voice and follow Him, we are sure to receive a great reward, as we reach the peaceful green pastures of Christ-like, educated children. “And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away” (1 Peter 5:4).
Father, how I praise You for leading my children and me in the path of homeschooling. Without You, we surely would be confused and lost. We come to You again this day and pray for Your continued blessings as we follow You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Homeschool Year 2009-2010
Written on 4 June 2009 by stacyAs all homeschool moms do, I am planning my upcoming school year for the kids. We are excitedly buying books and getting things ready.
These are my random (and some actually planned) ideas for this year.
Levi and Cassia will use Abeka for:
Language
Spelling (Abeka’s spelling is HARD!! But, they can do it.)
Math
They are getting tired of the Abeka readers so now we are getting our own “real” books.
We will be using our BAlancing the Sword for bible along with Sunday school lessons somedays for Bethel and somedays we will do Proverbs drawings and maybe some Keepers of the Faith character study booklets. After all, this is the most important subject!
Geography will be “Into All The World” by Christian LIght Publications. This is awesome. After searching and searching this was exciting to find. I didn’t like any geography I came across until I saw this. They have the work booklets and tests to go along with it and I am going to try to get this to be mostly a independent study. We will see……
We also, one day a week, will be using Writing Strands 3 to work on our writing.
One day a week we will be doing Apologia Botany with notebooking and experiments. WE already have this book so we are going to make use of it.
We will be using “A Childs Story of America” hopefully with some books to add to this.
We are also going to try to do crafts one day a week for all kids and several times a week to inforce Bethels letters and sounds.
Bethel will be using the Abeka K-4 program and all the charts and flashcards I already have. She wants to learn to read but I don’t want her an official kindergartener at the age of 4 (all you homeschooling moms know what I mean). So, she will most likely reinforce her reading skills next year in Kindergarten.
I am getting craft ideas for each letter of the alphabet from different blogs. I also am getting some neat ideas for crafts for all for different seasons and holidays.
I’m sure there is much more but this is just random thoughts.

Happy Birthday Cassia!!

Happy 9th Birthday Sweet Girl!!!
I have so much I could say! I am so thankful God gave us CAssia. 9 years ago today I was laboring ALL day. I told daddy to go on to work but he wouldn’t. He took Levi and me to work with him and I labored….all day. Once you finally decided to come…it was quick and we were driving through 4:30 traffic with our emergency lights ON!! HA You were SO pretty when you were born. You had gorgeous black curly hair and they put a pink bow in your hair. Pawpaw came from work and held his first granddaughter several times and sometimes on his lunch break showed up at our house to rock you!
As you grew, your hair grew wilder! We laughed and laughed at your crazy hair!
You have already turned into a beautiful person. Much more than I could ever take credit for! You have taught me a lot. You are so caring and loving of others, always thinking of them first.
Hope you have a Happy Birthday. I am so thankful for you!
Stacy
